📝 Revival Definition

(Noun)
Jesus is revival.
The Hebrew word “chayah” (revival) means not only the state of being alive but also the act of preserving life. It also speaks of restoring what was once lost or destroyed.

(Verb)

“The intellectual resurrection of the revelation of Jesus!” — Prophet Nas

During one of the greatest revivals in Scripture—the Day of Pentecost—we see that revival brought clarity where there was confusion.

📌 Jesus Is Revival

The very attributes of revival describe who Jesus is:

To Make Alive:
📖 John 5:21 — “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.”

To Give Life:
📖 John 10:10 — “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

To Recover:
📖 John 6:63 — “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

To Repair:
📖 Psalm 147:3 — “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

To Restore to Life:
📖 John 11:25 — “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.’”

To Be Whole:
📖 Mark 5:34 — “And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’”

To Illuminate:
📖 Psalm 119:130 — “The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”

📌 The Three Elements of Revival

1️⃣ Obedience to God’s Spirit — Waiting for His instruction and responding in faith.
2️⃣ Intellect — Receiving divine revelation about who Jesus truly is.
3️⃣ Changed Behavior — Allowing transformation to manifest in your actions and liberate others from sin’s power.

📌 What Revival Requires

📍 Revival Must Begin Within

Revival always starts in the heart.
It is only when you yourself have been converted inwardly that others can be convinced outwardly.

The apostles were first partakers of the revival they preached. You cannot carry what you have not encountered.

📍 Revival Is Accompanied by Changed Behavior

On the Day of Pentecost, the apostles’ behavior reflected the transformation of the Spirit.

People from many nations could suddenly understand their words in their own languages, even though the apostles had never spoken them before. Their conduct matched their message, making every accusation against them powerless.

The purity of their behavior validated the power of their message.

Reflection Question:
What behaviors might be keeping people from taking your message seriously?

📍 Revival Requires Complete and Continuous Obedience

The fullness of God was offered to five hundred people, but only one hundred and twenty remained in the upper room. Many started with excitement but lacked endurance.

While you may have started strong, ask yourself: Who or what has hindered your obedience?

God’s blessings do not rest on partial obedience.
They flow through those who remain consistent.

Imagine if Abraham obeyed only the first instruction to sacrifice Isaac but ignored God’s next word. Without continued obedience, he would have missed the revelation of the ram in the bush.

📍 Revival Requires Movement

Jesus commissioned His disciples to be revivalists. Their mission began in their hometown, but it was never meant to stay there.

Revival calls you to go beyond comfort zones, into unfamiliar territory, carrying the message of life wherever the Spirit leads.

📍 Revival Requires Knowledge

The apostles were not scholars by trade, yet they were students of the Word.

Jesus taught them Scripture so they could have a foundation to stand on. Though He was the Word made flesh, He ensured His followers understood it well enough to live by it after His physical departure.

Knowledge anchors revival. Without it, fire burns out into chaos.

📍 Revival Requires All of You

The apostles’ messages carried power because they came from authentic testimony.

They spoke from the reality of their past, the truth of their present, and the hope of their future. That’s what made their witness irresistible.

Revival isn’t just what you preach.
It’s who you’ve become through the power of Jesus.

🔥 Final Reflection

Revival isn’t a moment. It’s a movement within you.

It begins when you allow the Spirit to breathe new life into what has gone dormant.
It continues when your obedience becomes consistent.
It thrives when your knowledge deepens, your actions align, and your testimony speaks louder than your words.

You are both the student and the evidence of revival.
